Our Staff
This is Matthew's seventh season as Managing Artistic Director of Ohio's oldest professional summer stock theatre, the Weathervane Playhouse. Initially hired as a member of the 2002 Company, Matthew has been seen onstage in productions like Forever Plaid , Sweeney Todd , Guys and Dolls , and West Side Story .
In addition to the artistic and fiscal management of the company, he has directed productions such as Pump Boys and Dinettes , The Music Man , Baby , Crazy for You , Star-Spangled Girl , Steel Magnolias , A Little Night Music , and The Wizard of Oz as well as the award-winning productions Children of Eden, Ragtime, Into the Woods, and The Secret Garden which garnered the 2009 award for Outstanding Production from the Central Ohio Theatre Round Table. Since 2007, Matthew has designed and implemented all of the programming in the Larry W. and Dawn Holt Anderson Children’s Theatre. He is particularly proud of Weathervane Young Artists’ Repertory Theatre(WYART!) which gives children the opportunity to perform in fully realized musical theatre productions.
In 2003, he made his New York City directorial debut with Raw Impressions Music Theatre at LaMaMa e.t.c. and followed with sold-out performances of Bill Cosgriff's one-act, The Boiler Room , at manhattantheatresource . Matthew assisted director Joe Calarco on the sold-out run of The Mistress Cycle as part of the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Following that, he served as production manager for The Transport Group's production of Nor'mal: A Family Musical directed by Jack Cummings III and starring Barbara Walsh. He has performed and staged numerous national tours for the popular Connecticut Children's Theatre . Matthew served as Executive Director of Novato Young Artists' Repertory Theatre in the San Francisco Bay Area building a solid program and reputation of excellence with his productions of Big River , Oklahoma , How to Succeed... , and Children of Eden .
Matthew graduated Northwestern University with a B.M. in Vocal Performance, a B.A. in Psychology and is a graduate of the Musical Theatre Certificate Program. He is a regional adjudicator for the Southeastern Theatre Conference and a proud member of Actors’ Equity. He would like to thank his family, friends, and the Bunkster for all of their support.
